DLNY Is Hiring Young Commercial Dancers (Ages 14-18) for Our Upcoming NextGen Lab! - Dance Lab New York

Dance Lab New York (DLNY) is thrilled to announce auditions for our inaugural NextGen Youth Dance Company.

For all DLNY NextGen Labs, DLNY hires highly trained, stylistically versatile dancers of all backgrounds ages 14-18.

Dancers work with and learn choreography from two different choreographers, so adaptability and versatility are necessary. Dancers must also have a strong attention to detail and a memory for complex choreography.

We invite dancers from all five boroughs of New York City and those of all backgrounds, races, genders, abilities, and ages to apply. High level of skill is a must.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL DANCERS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL HOURS OF REHEARSAL. NO EXCEPTIONS. (Rehearsal schedules will always be made available prior to contracting.)

2022 LAB DATES & SCHEDULE

September 27th, DANCER APPLICATION DEADLINE

October 22nd, 12:00pm-3:00pm

October 29th, 11:00am-6:00pm

November 5th, 11:00am-6:00pm

November 12th, 11:00am-6:00pm

November 19th, 11:00am-6:00pm

Our days will include an 30 minute mandatory company warm-up followed by two, three-hour-long sessions separated by a 30-minute meal break. A sample schedule:

11:00am - 11:30pm – Company Warm-Up

11:30pm - 2:30pm – Session I (First Choreographer)

2:30pm - 3:00pm – Break

3:00pm - 6:00pm – Session II (Second Choreographer)

Dance Lab New York (DLNY) is the only independent organization exclusively dedicated to promoting and advancing the art form of choreography by gifting vital resources to a diverse range of dancemakers.

The DLNY NextGen Apprenticeship provides young choreographers with a curated company of dancers, expansive studio space, and structured rehearsal time in addition to mentorship from DLNY’s resident mentor William Carlos Angulo.
