Anthony Geary Set for Lucid by Proxy and Calvin Remsberg's INTO THE WOODS

GENERAL HOSPITAL's Luke (Anthony Geary) heads the cast of Lucid by Proxy and Calvin Remsberg's dark twist on the fairytale musical INTO THE WOODS.

From The Shadows of a warehouse in the brand-new Downtown LA art/performance complex Big Art Labs, Calvin Remsberg and Lucid by Proxy will bring Los Angeles a darker, uncluttered interpretation of Sondheim's classic Broadway musical, INTO THE WOODS. Stripped of much of its typical sunny storybook trappings, Remsberg and LbP's INTO THE WOODS makes use of the foreboding warehouse environment, concert-style lighting and modern costume to tell the story of life after "happily ever after."

"Productions of INTO THE WOODS often lean so heavily elaborate costumes and sets and special effects that the show becomes about those things, instead of the story" said Lucid by Proxy producer David Nett. "We wanted our INTO THE WOODS to be about the performers and the audience the play - the actors just singing the amazing music and telling the wonderful, dark story to the audience."

This unique production will be presented by an extremely talented cast, who, between them, boast numerous awards and major credits in theater, television & film in Los Angeles, New York and across the country. At the helm, as the show's Narrator and Mysterious Man, is Anthony Geary, who has played Luke on GENERAL HOSPITAL since 1978. Broadway and Los Angeles stage and film veteran Calvin Remsberg will direct the show.

"We've been searching for a way to produce a show with Calvin for years," said LbP's Shannon Nelson. "This concept for INTO THE WOODS just clicked for all of us. We couldn't be more excited to be working with him and drawing from all of his vast experience and talent. And because of him and this beautiful play we were able to attract Richard [Berent - musical director] and Anthony and the rest of the amazing cast."

Geary himself, famous for his multiple Daytime Emmy winning portrayal of Luke Spencer, is no stranger to the stage, having performed in over fifty plays across the United States, including a national tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. He won a DramaLogue Award in 1996 for his performance in the one-man show, HUMAN SCRATCHINGS.

INTO THE WOODS is Lucid by Proxy's 17th production, and will be the group's official 10th Anniversary production. It is directed by Calvin Remsberg, with musical direction by Richard Berent and choreography by Valerie Rachelle, and features Johnny Cannizzaro, AnnaLisa Erickson, Zachary Ford, Nancy Gassner-Clayton, Carissa Ro Gatti, Anthony Geary, Pamela Hamill, Jayson Kraid, Jennifer Malenke, Shannon Nelson, David Nett, Sarah Orr, Jessica Pennington, David Pevsner, Valerie Rachelle, Sara J. Stuckey, Michael Uribes, Jessie Withers, James Paul Xavier and Josie Yount.
