All the way from London, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) trained April Albert takes on the Naked Ambition of Germany's biggest post-war star, Hildegard Knef.

Premiering at Melbourne's iconic The Butterfly Club, Die Knef is a candid yet charismatic performance revisiting the life and songs that made Hildegard Knef.

Renowned as a performer for her wit, one-liners and her scandalous love affairs, Knef knew from a young age that she was destined for a career on the stage ‘'. Hildegard Knef is the Edith Piaf of Germany.

In amongst the ruins of her memories and a nation ravaged by war, Hildegard Knef, bravely forged her path through life, right or wrong. ‘I don't take notice of walls I just climb over them'. In a world that no longer made any sense, Knef cared only for survival and success.

But, while Knef's ambition propelled her to fame on stage and screen - to Hollywood and back - she never forgot her roots and her homeland, Germany.

April Albert's interpretation retraces the early scandals and affairs that plagued Knef's life and exposes the true essence of a woman who made her choices on a need to survive and succeed.

This event will take place at The Butterfly Club from 1st to 4th December at 7pm Thurs-Sat and 6pm Sun. For tickets please visit The ButterflyClub (www.thebutterflyclub.com) or phone on (03) 9690 2000.
