By Popular Demand - The CALLAWAY SISTERS Return To The Annenberg Theater 4/7

CALLAWAY-SISTERS-At-The-Annenberg-Theatre-20010101

The Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum presents the return engagement of one of today's most celebrated sibling acts, the Tony-nominated actresses Liz Callaway and Ann Hampton Callaway, who will reprise last season's sold out engagement for one night only, April 7 at 8:00 pm. The concert will feature highlights form their critically acclaimed shows "Sibling Rivalry", "Relative Harmony" and their newest show "Boom".

The Callaway Sisters are known for putting their unmistakable stamp on unforgettable and lesser known, not-oft performed songs from Broadway, jazz and The American Songbook. The New York Times has said the sisters "lift songs to expressive heights rarely attained by any singer".

Ann Hampton Callaway is one of the leading champions of the great American Songbook, having made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host and producer. Her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theaters and jazz clubs as well as in the recording studio, on television, and in film. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical Swing! and for writing and singing the theme song to the hit TV series The Nanny. She is a Platinum Award winning songwriter, having written over 250 songs recorded by stars such as Carole King, Barbara Carroll and Liza Minelli, and her songs are featured on six of Barbra Streisand's recent CD's. She is the only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter having set her music to his posthumously discovered lyric, " I Gaze in Your Eyes."

Liz Callaway is a Tony Nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress, singer and recording artist who made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Baby, and for five years, won acclaim as "Grizabella" in Cats. She has also starred in the original casts of Miss Saigon, The Three Musketeers, and The Look of Love. Liz sang the Academy Award nominated song "Journey to the Past" in the animated feature Anastasia and was the singing voice of "Princess Jasmine" in Disney's Aladdin and the King of Thieves and The Return of Jafar. Other film work includes the singing voice of the title character in The Swan Princess, Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, Beauty and the Beast, and The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars.

The Annenberg Theater is uniquely located inside of the Palm Springs Art Museum and, with near perfect acoustics, the 433 seat, state-of-the-art performance space is widely considered the theatrical "jewel" of the desert.

Tickets for this show are $40-$55. Tickets can be purchased at www.annenbergtheater.org  or by calling the theater Box Office at 760-325-4490.
