Twenty-five years after its spellbinding debut shocked critics and audiences from Stratford to New York, CARRIE, the most legendary Broadway musical of all time, will arrive in Los Angeles for the first time this fall in a new audience immersive production.

Based on the classic horror novel by Stephen King, and featuring a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), the Los Angeles debut of CARRIE will be directed by Brady Schwind and choreographed by Imara Quinonez, the award winning creative team behind the Los Angeles premiere productions of PARADE and THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA.

Schwind, the Artistic Director of the Transfer Theatre Group, spoke of the planned production: "From its infamous roots in the pantheon of terror, there has simply never been a musical that has held the public's fascination more than CARRIE. It's a musical I've always loved, and a musical I think many have longed to see in Southern California. I'm absolutely thrilled we will have the chance to present it, in a unique environmental staging, that we hope will illuminate both the horror and the soul at the heart of an extraordinary story which has haunted imaginations for nearly forty years since its first publication.

In a statement, the authors of CARRIE THE MUSICAL, Michael Gore, Lawrence D. Cohen and Dean Pitchford said that they "are delighted that The Transfer Theatre Group will be mounting the Los Angeles regional premiere of our show. With their track record for innovative productions, we're very excited to see TTG's presentation."

One of the most beloved thrillers of all time, CARRIE spins a classic tale of bloodsport and revenge. A misfit at school, terrorized by her holier-than-thou mother at home, 17-year-old Carrie White nonetheless has a secret. And when a prank at the high school prom goes horribly wrong, they'll all find out how just how scary a secret can be...

The Los Angeles premiere of CARRIE will begin previews Friday, September 6, 2013 with an official opening Friday, September 13, 2013. A strictly limited engagement, performances conclude Sunday, November 2, 2013. Cast, crew and location of the 'prom' to be disclosed at a later date.

The production will be produced by the Transfer Theatre Group (Suzan Fairchild, Artistic Producer), and Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, the Tony Award winning producers of CLYBORNE PARK, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, and the upcoming revival of PIPPIN.
