Based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Hebrew Bible's Book of Genesis, this light-hearted show was first presented as a 15-minute pop cantata in London in 1968. JOSEPH premiered on Broadway January 24, 1982, played 757 performances and was revived on Broadway November 10, 1993, played 223 performances. In 1999 it was adapted as a straight to video film, starring Donny Osmond.

JOSEPH is almost completely sung through. Its family-friendly storyline, universal themes, and catchy music have made JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT one of the most popular musicals in musical theatre.

In the past ten years CLOSBC has received the most (4) Best Musical Awards from the OVATIONS.
