Crown City Theatre Presents Sondheim and Furth's COMPANY, 2/14

Crown City Theatre Company presents Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's COMPANY, directed by Albert Alarr. The press opening is set for Feb. 14th at 8 pm.

COMPANY is the winner of 5 Drama Desk Awards, 6 Tony Awards (nominated for 14), and 1 Theater World Award... and that was only it's first Broadway run in 1970 (does not include the award noms and wins for the 1995 and 2006 revivals).

The production features Book by George Furth (Actor, Writer, Director, won Drama Desk and Tony for the musical "Company") and Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award).

Directed by Albert Alarr (Crown City's acclaimed "A Prayer for My Daughter"... Director of "Venice, the Series," "Days of our Lives," "The Young and the Restless," and "Port Charles," as well as several shows for his own theater company MUDLUSCIOUS), COMPANY's plot revolves around Bobby (a single man unable to commit to a steady relationship, let alone marriage), five married couples who are his best friends, and three girlfriends.

Company is a concept musical composed of short vignettes linked by a celebration for Bobby's 35th birthday. It was among the first musicals to deal with adult themes and relationships.
