Del Shores to Direct JD3atrical's YELLOW, 6/11-7/25

JD3atrical Productions will be presenting Del Shores' first new play in over seven years, the world premiere of Yellow, written and directed by Del Shores' (The Trials and Tribulations of  a Trailer Trash Housewife, Southern Baptist Sissies, Sordid Lives) and produced by Louise Beard, Emerson Collins, Jason Dottley and Del Shores. Yellow will begin previews on Friday, May 29 at 8pm and will open on Friday, June 11 at 8pm and run thru Sunday, July 25 at the Coast Playhouse, 8325 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.   

Yellow, a world premiere play by award-winning playwright Del Shores, chronicles a year in the life of what seems to be the perfect family in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Bobby Westmoreland is a high school football coach, and his wife Kate is a respected therapist.  They have two ambitious children in high school; their son Dayne is the golden child and football star while their daughter Gracie is an aspiring actress who feels misunderstood at all times.  Gracie's best friend is a young gay boy, Kendall, who shares her affinity for the theatre which puts him at odds with his abusive, fundamentalist mother, Sister Timothea.   

As the play opens, all seems right in the Westmoreland household.  Dayne prepares for the start of football season, and Gracie and Kendall audition to join the cast of the high school production of "Oklahoma."  Everything quickly begins to fall apart when an unexpected tragedy rocks the solid foundation of the Westmoreland family to the breaking point.  YELLOW dives head first into the themes of cowardice, intolerance and the damage caused to families by secrets, rejection and the difficulty of forgiveness.  A departure from the intense comedy of earlier works, YELLOW is Shores' most dramatic play to date.

JASON DOTTLEY stars as "Ty Williamson" in Del Shores' "Sordid Lives: The Series". Dottley stars with icons Olivia Newton-John and Rue McClanahan, as well as with Bonnie Bedelia, Beth Grant, Caroline Rhea, and Leslie Jordan. The show currently airs in 17 countries as diverse as Madagascar, UK, France, Canada, and Germany.   

Jas's first American club release with dance diva Debby Holiday, "Party Round the World" hit the Top 20 in Billboard during March, 2010.  His second single "Hit Play" hits clubs in May of 2010 with a world-class slate of remix producers. 

In 2009 through January of 2010 Dottley produced and starred in "A Sordid Affair" with a mix of Rue McClanahan, Caroline Rhea, Del Shores, Leslie Jordan, Debby Holiday, Georgette Jones, himself and more.  His first tour date September 19, 2009 at Dallas' Majestic Theatre made Billboard Boxscore coming in at #106 with a single day gross of nearly $80,000.  In addition, during the Summer of 2009, Dottley produced Del Shores' one-man show, Del Shores: My Sordid Life in over 30 cities. 

During the fall of 2006 Dottley produced the six-city national tour "Del Shores' The Official Tour" of two plays he'd been producing locally in Los Angeles, Southern Baptist Sissies and Sordid Lives. From Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale, he played to over 15,000 fans on the road in venues packed over the 1,400 mark.  Dottley kicked off 2006 with the revivals of both road shows at the Zephyr Theatre in Hollywood. In the middle of the run, Dottley added a revival of Shores' most critically-acclaimed play The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife into the mix that starred Beth Grant in her tour-de-force, extraordinary awarded performance. The prestigious L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Awards honored Dottley with a "Best Production" nomination.  In the fall of 2003, Jason enjoyed a six-week run at the Actor's Lab in Hollywood in Terrance McNally's "Lisbon Traviata" from which he received a great round of reviews for his professional stage acting debut. 

The cast of YELLOW includes David Cowgill, Susan Leslie, Luke McClure, Kristen McCullough, Matthew Scott Montgomery and Evie Louise Thompson. 

YELLOW will preview on Saturday, May 29 at 8:00pm, Sunday, May 30 at 2:00pm & 7:00 pm; Wednesday, June 2 at 8:00pm, Thursday, June 3 at 8:00pm; Friday, June 4 at 8:00pm; Saturday, June 6 at 8:00pm; Sunday, June 7 at 2:00pm & 7:00pm and will open on Friday, June 11 at 8:00pm at The Coast Playhouse, 8325 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.  YELLOW is scheduled to run for seven weeks through Sunday, July 25.
