June 4-5, Gregg Edelman, Sally Mayes, Linda Purl, and Kurt Reichenbach will be starring in Ira Without George: The Lyrics of Ira Gershwin.  The event will be held at the Ford Amphitheatre and will feature musical direction by Tedd Firth.

Focusing on the life of lyricist Ira Gershwin, the production follows his decades of phenomenal lyric output. The concert focuses on the songs he wrote without his brother, including collaborations with Harold Arlen, Kurt Weill, Vernon Duke, Harry Warren, and Jerome Kern.

Ira Gershwin collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most memorable songs of the 20th century.  With George he wrote more than a dozen Broadway shows, featuring songs such as "I Got Rhythm", "Embraceable You", "The Man I Love" and "Someone to Watch Over Me", and the opera Porgy and Bess.
