Elaine Stritch Makes Walt Disney Hall Debut in SINGIN' SONDHEIM...ONE SONG AT A TIME Tonight, 5/19

Following a journey of iconic performances – from Sondheim's Company to her Tony award-winning show Elaine Stritch at Liberty to her Emmy award-winning appearances on 30 Rock – the ferociously age-defiant "Broadway Baby" makes a rare West Coast appearance for Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim…One Song at a Time, her Walt Disney Concert Hall debut.

Born in Michigan, 87-year-old Elaine Stritch began her award-winning career in the Broadway revue Angel in the Wings and went on to appear in such notable shows as Bus Stop, Sail Away and Pal Joey (while standing by for Ethel Merman in the musical Call Me Madam). She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the 1996 revival of Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance. Ms. Stritch's rendition of "The Ladies Who Lunch" from the 1970 Stephen Sondheim musical Company is legendary.

Ms. Stritch made her film debut in the 1957 remake of A Farewell to Arms starring Rock Hudson. She co-starred in the 1977 Alain Resnais film Providence and the award-winning BBC television series Two's Company. Her television credits include The Cosby Show, Third Rock from the Sun, Soul Man and the miniseries An Inconvenient Woman, for which she received an Emmy Award nomination. She won her first Emmy Award for her recurring role on Law & Order. Ms. Stritch received a Tony Award and two Drama Desk Awards for her critically-acclaimed Broadway production of Elaine Stritch At Liberty. In 2005, Ms. Stritch made her New York cabaret debut At Home at The Carlyle and the following year presented a sold-out run of Elaine Stritch at Liberty at The Carlyle.

In April 2007, Ms. Stritch was introduced on the hit television show 30 Rock as "Colleen Donaghy," Alec Baldwin's mother, and received her second Emmy Award for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. In 2008, she and her music director Rob Bowman presented a limited engagement of Elaine Stritch at Liberty in London at the Shaw Theatre and then took the show on tour throughout the US.

Ms. Stritch returned to "old Broadway" in 2010 playing Madame Armfeldt to the A-adorable Bernadette Peters' Desirée in A Little Night Music which ran for a limited sold-out (with extension) engagement.

Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim…One Song at a Time concludes the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2011/12 Songbook series. Each year since its inception, the LA Phil Songbook series has brought audiences some of the most cherished evenings of American song.

Elaine Stritch will perform alongside Rob Bowman (musical director/piano) tonight, May 19 at 8 p.m. at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, located at 111 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, Calif.

Subscriptions and single tickets for the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2011/12 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall are currently available.
