The Los Angeles Times reports that GLEE's Jane Lynch has been named this year's host of the VH1's "Do Something Awards," which honors young activists, on July 19 in Los Angeles.  The show will be broadcast live on VH1.

The ceremony celebrates people 25 and younger and a handful of celebrities who have made a difference in thier community.  The event, courtesy of DoSomething.org, awards six individuals with prizes of $10,000 and $100,000 to further their community-building efforts and effect social change.

The awards will also honor the celebrities that make the world a better place.  The winners will be determined by a public vote.  The nominees are:

Do Something Movie Star - Matt Damon or Natalie Portman?

Do Something TV Show - Glee or American Idol?

Do Something Music Artist - The Jonas Brothers or Lady Gaga?
