HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING Staged At California Center For The Arts Escondido 11/20

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," the Tony Award-winning Broadway play is being staged by Arts Off Broadway at the California Center for the Arts Escondido, 340 N. Escondido Blvd. on November 20 (7:30pm), November 21 (2:30 & 7:30pm) and November 22 (2:30pm).

A humorous and entertaining Broadway hit, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" follows an ambitious young window washer on the building of the World Wide Wicket Company, who finds a self-help book that launches him on an exciting climb through the world of corporate opportunity and intrigue. Along the way he encounters everything from office politics to romance in this hilarious musical romp through the business culture of the 1960's. The original star of the both the Broadway play and motion picture was Robert Morse, who is currently seen on the popular television series also set in the 1960's, "Mad Men."

In addition to its humor and catchy musical score, "How to Succeed..." features a love story between the eager young corporate climber Finch (Lucas Coleman) and smitten secretary Rosemary (Madison Williams). The play is a regional theatre favorite and the third of Arts Off Broadway's 2009-2010 Season; past productions included Urinetown and Annie, this winter AOB will produce both adult and junior cast versions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (auditions in January, performances in February) and next spring will bring both adult and junior cast versions of Fiddler on the Roof (auditions in March/April, performances in June).
Arts Off Broadway's production features 30 local performers with a variety of community theatre and regional theatre experience. A live orchestra and colorful sets will enhance the theatre-going experience. AOB's previous productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Kiss Me Kate and Peter Pan played to raving crowds and excellent reviews.
Tickets range from $12.50 to $17.50 but group discounts are available offering $12 orchestra seats for groups of 20 or more.
For ticket information, call 800-988-4253 or go to www.artsoffbroadway.org.

About Arts Off Broadway: ARTS OFF BROADWAY is a community theatre unique to San Diego's North County in that it sprung from roots as a youth theatre, exploded with success as a community theatre and then reinstituted its youth program so that entire families can enjoy theatrical experiences together in an environment that nurtures creativity and positive values.

In the spring of 2001, Escondido residents Don & Marie Verger purchased a property which became the home of an after-school arts education program. "Hansel & Gretel" became the program's first production, followed by "Cinderella," "The Wizard of Oz," and a long string of successful shows which filled theatres throughout the Escondido, Poway and Valley Center areas.

According to its bylaws, the vision of Arts Off Broadway is to provide meaningful quality theatrical experiences that will enlighten, excite and educate the audience and community through performance. The vision will be carried out not only through performances but also through classes, workshops, and participation in community events.

Arts Off Broadway's mission is to present and contribute to the community through theatrical experiences by promoting education and interest in the theatre and performing arts by:

· providing opportunity for artistic growth
· promoting and inspiring local artists and original works
· promoting education in the theatre and performing arts by producing high quality theatrical plays and musicals
