OPENING AUGUST 24, 2013

The Los Angeles Intimate Theatre Premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Pulitzer- and Tony-nominated comedy

IN THE NEXT ROOM or THE VIBRATOR PLAY

Directed by August Viverito

At the dawn of the age of electricity in America, a new treatment is devised to save women of substance from suffering. "Hysteria" was the diagnosis, and the new electric vibrating apparatus became a woman's best friend in lieu of a husband who...understands. A titillating, charming, funny, and truthful look at human sexuality and connection. Sarah Ruhl is as whimsical and clever as ever, as her script navigates Victorian Age society and characters just trying to relate to one another beyond shallow chitchat over tea. Ruhl uses the simple device of the vibrator to open up discussions of gender, intimacy, desperation, and love.

The play will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM through September 28, 2013 at The Secret Rose Theatre. Tickets are $30, general admission.

OPENING NOVEMBER 1, 2013

The beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning adaptation by Ketti Frings

LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL

Directed by T L Kolman

Based on Thomas Wolfe's autobiographical novel of the same name, Look Homeward, Angel examines the life of a young man growing up in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina during the early part of the 20th century. The original Broadway production opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theater on November 28, 1957 and ran for 564 performances. The play won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama in 1958 and was nominated for the 1958 Tony Award for Best Play. In 1994 it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and was recently revived in New York to huge acclaim in a production helmed by Austin Pendleton.

OPENING JANUARY 31, 2014

Tom Stoppard's Astounding "Best Play"

ARCADIA

April 1809, an elegant English country estate: A gifted pupil proposes a startling theory well beyond her comprehension. All around her, the adults, including her tutor, are preoccupied with secret desires, illicit passions and professional rivalries. Two hundred years later, two academic adversaries are piecing together puzzling clues, curiously recalling those events of 1809 in their quest for an increasingly elusive truth. Arcadia is Tom Stoppard's comic exploration of the relationship between past and present and between order and disorder...and even the certainty of knowledge itself. It has been cited by many critics as the finest play from one of the most significant contemporary playwrights in the English language. Daily Telegraph commented: "I have never left a play more convinced that I had just witnessed a masterpiece." And Vincent Canby of The New York Times described the play as "Tom Stoppard's richest, most ravishing comedy to date, a play of wit, intellect, language, brio and, new for him, emotion." Among Arcadia's many accolades are the 1995 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, 1995 Tony Award for Best Play, and 2011 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. And in a fascinating side note, in 2006, Arcadia was voted onto the shortlist for the Royal Institution award for "the best science book ever written."
