
POW! WHIZ! BAM!: VC's First Animation Mini-Film Fest

Visual Communications will launch its first Animation Mini-Film Fest, POW! WHIZ! BAM! at the Tateuchi Democracy Forum at the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, presenting colorful characters and fantastical universes only the world of animation could create.
New programs added! Addition of 3 new shorts program, CHAINSAW MAID, STOOPID MOVIE, and WELCOME TO MY LIFE. Also don't miss the festival after party at Far Bar at 9:30pm. Festival guest will receive $1 off beverage with ticket stubs. Misk'i Gourmet Food Truck will also be at the festival selling gourmet South American street food.

Recycling: Washi Tales

Recycling: Washi Tales brings to life through performance the human stories contained in sheets of handmade Japanese paper (washi). In this performance, an extraordinary ensemble of performers and musicians, including 15th generation Noh drummer, Shonosuke Okura, Biwa player Shisui Arai, vocalist Makiko Sakurai, performer Karen Kandel, and actor Sonoko Soeda, in a world created by distinguished paper artist Kyoko Ibe.
This performance is held in conjunction with the installation, Washi Tales: The Paper Art of Ibe Kyoko, on view September 1 through November 28, 2011. Visit the LACMA website for more details.
