Three-time Tony® Award and Drama Desk nominee Kevin Chamberlin (Dirty Blonde, Seussical, The Addams Family) has stepped into the role of Carl in Michael Hollinger's Opus, replacing previously announced Adam Arkin. The L.A. Theatre Works production takes place at UCLA's James Bridges Theater, where six public performances, May 17 -20, will be recorded for radio broadcast. Also in the cast are Jonathan Adams (Bones), Jere Burns (Justified, Burn Notice), Steven Culp (Desperate Housewives) and Liza Weil (The Gilmore Girls, Scandal).
Brendon Fox directs Hollinger's humorous and compelling behind-the-scenes look at a "high-strung" string quartet. In Hollinger's award-winning play, a world-famous ensemble threatens to unravel when its most talented member goes missing just before a high-profile performance at the White House. A young woman is hired to take his place - but with only days left to prepare, the musicians must navigate the creative, yet often disharmonious, path of creating a masterpiece. Hollinger skillfully establishes how four very distinct personalities must, in the pursuit of artistic excellence, synthesize with one another to create one seamless sound.
