Tune in for "Dinah Was" on Sunday, March 25 and be there when 90.7 FM KPFK launches L.A. Theatre Worksweekly radio theater series in its new Sunday night time slot. Beginning March 25, L.A. Theatre Works will air on KPFK every Sunday from8 pm – 10 pm.

"We are thrilled to have LA Theatre Works coming to KPFK as we feel it is far and away the best radio drama show in the country," said KPFK interim program director Alan Minsky. "Since 1959, KPFK has been committed to bringing excellent arts programming to Southern California; over the decades we have aired many astonishing dramas on 90.7 FM. Now we are proud to broadcast a show which produces material every week that rivals the classics in our archives."

L.A. Theatre Works reaches thousands of people nationwide through its weekly broadcasts on public radio stations around the country. To date, LATW has recorded over 450 stage plays performed by America's top actors and augmented by interviews with the artists and others. Plays are recorded ten times a year in front of a live audience at the James Bridges Theater on the campus of UCLA, as well as in studio.

"We are delighted to be moving to KPFK and looking forward to reaching audiences from Santa Barbara to San Diego thanks to KPFK's superior signal," said L.A. Theatre Works producing artistic director Susan Loewenberg.

KPFK 90.7 FM is the most powerful public radio station in the Western United States, broadcasting on 112,000 watts and heard from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border and east to the desert and the San Bernardino Mountains.

Yvette Freeman won an OBIE award for her role as Dinah Washington in the Off Broadway hit, "Dinah Was," and on Sunday, March 25 from 8 pm-10 pm, KPFK listeners will be able to hear her recreate her performance - the rhythms, the tough breaks, and the tender notes that fired the life and music of the legendary singer. Subsequent Sundays will treat KPFK listeners to "A Doll House" by Henrik Ibsen, starringCalista Flockhart (April 1); "Lobby Hero" by Kenneth Lonergan, starring original Off Broadway cast member Tate Donovan (April 8);A.R. For three decades, L.A.
