Alan Mandell and Lawrence Pressman will star in the Odyssey Theatre's production of NO MAN'S LAND, opening Wednesday, October 21st. NO MAN'S LAND, by playwright Harold Pinter, is directed by Michael Peretzian.

Harold Pinter's tragicomedy surrounds two aging writers, Hirst and Spooner. After meeting on Hampstead Heath, they return home for a late-night session of witty banter, sinister power games, and the worship of alcohol, watched by Hirst's henchman, Briggs and Foster. This play is part mystery drama, part homage to the ghosts of the past and the fiction of memory.

NO MAN'S LAND was written in 1974 and first produced and published in 1975. Its original production was at The Old Vic Theatre in London by the National Theatre on 23 April 1975, and it later transferred to Wyndhams Theatre, July 1975 - January 1976, the Lyttelton Theatre April-May 1976, and New York October-December, returning to the Lyttelton, January-February 1977.

NO MAN'S LAND opens 10/21 and runs though 12/20. Performances take place Wednesdays at 8pm, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm, and Sundays at 7pm. Tickets are $25 Wednesday through Friday and $30 Saturdays and Sundays. Discounts are available for students, SAG/EQUITY/AFTRA members, and seniors. Tickets are available through the box office at 310-477-2055.

Alan Mandell is known for his roles in the works of Shakespeare, Beckett, and others, both on and Off-Broadway and throughout California and in Europe. He has acted, directed, and served as general manager at both the San Francisco Actor's Workshop and the Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center. After co-founding the San Quentin Drama Workshop, he toured France and Germany with the original productions of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Endgame, directed by the playwright, and then performed Endgame at Dublin's Abbey Theatre, in London and Italy. He subsequently re-created Beckett's direction for the filming of Endgame, in which he played the role of Nagg.

Lawrence Pressman is a founding member of the Antaeus, Matrix and Inkwell Theatre Companies. His most recent appearances in Los Angeles was in the CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre production of Tanya Barfield's "Of Equal Measure" (2008) and the premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's "The Paris Letter." He appeared at the Mark Taper Forum in "Wood Demon," "Richard III," and "A Month in the Country." In addition, he had a leading role in the final workshop of Tony Kushner's "Perestroika."

The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble's mission remains firm: the creation of new work, the revitalization and re-exploration of classical material, consistent experimentation with the most current developments at the forefront of the "state of the art" in the interNational Theatre world, ongoing investigation of the "process" of creating theatre, and continuing development of new acting, directing, and writing talent via the Actor's Laboratory, Play Development Program, and Emerging Directors Plan. Ultimately, the institution moves toward the creation of a larger International Experimental Theatre Center, facilitating the crosspolination of artists from different countries, cultures and disciplines, and the exposure of this collaborative work to the Southern California audience.
