Phantom Projects Theatre Group Announces 2012 Young Artist Project

Phantom Projects Theatre Group is seeking young actors, dancers, writers, singers, filmmakers, choreographers, directors, spoken word artists, and any other type of performance artist, to audition for the 2012 Young Artist Project. Interested participants can submit an application online at www.PhantomProjects.com.

This is neither a talent show nor a competition, and it is not an event for beginners. This is a fully-staged production written and performed by the participants. Only 10 of the over 100 applications received will be selected. Those chosen will have exactly 14 days to completely create, rehearse and prepare their event to be performed as the final production in Phantom Projects Theatre Group’s 2011-2012 Season at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Each participant must be between the ages of 16-23 and all will be asked to contribute in more than one area over the two-week rehearsal process leading up to the public performance. Applications for the workshop, which will be held at Phantom Projects’ La Mirada facility, are currently being reviewed, and are still being accepted.

The deadline to apply is July 4, 2012. There is no cost to be involved. To apply to the Young Artist Project, or get more information on any of Phantom Projects programs go online to www.PhantomProjects.com or call 714-690-2900.

“The Young Artist Project will make it possible for young people to have their visions come to life in a major Southland venue,” said Steve Cisneros, founder and Producing Artistic Director of Phantom Projects Theatre Group. “They will contribute to a performance that is completely written, created and performed by some of Southern California’s brightest young artists. It should be as exciting for the audience at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts as it will be for these future stars to test their talents. Because it is a fluid rehearsal project, as much for development and encouragement of the talent as to prepare for a specific performance, the great benefit for the participants will be the emersion into a real working environment like they will eventually experience at a professional theatre,” said Cisneros. “We are also optimistic that we will forge relationships with new collaborators who will play a part in our regular season productions and tours to schools.”

Each year, Phantom Projects Theatre Group mounts a season of plays at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and touring productions to middle and high schools in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
