On Sun, Sept 16, 2012, Tony Award-nominated star of stage and screen Valarie Pettiford performed a rare, One Night Only, concert at The Renberg Theatre in Los Angeles.
Celebrating a career that has spanned over three decades, the Fosse-trained triple-threat shared theatre accolades (like Bob Fosse's motto's), hilarious stories (national tours with Cloris Leachman) and sang songs which accentuated the aspects of love in her life.
Carefully crafted by Director and co-Writer David Galligan, the show included songs like Don't Rain On Parade (Funny Girl), Don't Get Around Much Anymore, Mein Herr (Cabaret), Bill (Showboat) and more, as well as, a rousing rendition of her signature song - Life Is Like a Bowl of Cherries (Fosse).
The enthusiastic audience was treated to a sneak peek of songs from her second solo album, a collection of original lullabies, entitled Velvet Sky. Miss Pettiford collaborated with writers Chuck Steffan, Jamie Wooten, Michael Orland and Ron Abel on the new album. Mr. Abel also served as Music Director for this concert which was produced by Jon Imparato.
