RED, HOT AND BLUE! Premieres In LA At Whitefire Theatre 5/29-7/5

By George Productions presents the Los Angeles premiere of Cole Porter's 1936 hit musical comedy, "Red, Hot and Blue!" With a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, this was the team's follow-up to "Anything Goes." This Depression era screwball comedy deals with a National Lottery offering a first prize to anyone who finds a long-lost love with a rare identification mark.

The eccentric characters include ex-cons, DC senators and Manhattan's most perennial debutantes. Director/choreographer Joe Joyce, Musical Director: Brian O'Halloran, Scenic Designer: Stephen Gifford, Costume Designer: A. Jeffrey Schoenberg, Lighting Designer: Jeremy Pivnick
WHEN: May 29th through July 5th, 2009

Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday Matinees at 3:00pm

Whitefire Theatre, 13500 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423

TICKETS: $30 at 800-838-3006

EDITORS: Originally starring Ethel Merman, Bob Hope and Jimmy Durante, this great score has never been recorded in its entirety. Included are the Cole Porter classics "It's De-Lovely", "Down in the Depths (On the 90th Floor)", "Ridin' High" and "Red, Hot and Blue!" As it did in 1936, "Red, Hot and Blue!" delivers a great evening of fun. The cast includes Nadia Ahern, Tiffanny-Marie Austin, Robyn S. Clark, Christina Dohmen, Richard Horvitz, Kyle Nudo, Sandra Purpuro, Matthew Reis, Nikki Tomlinson, Tom Walz, and Allyson Turner as "Nails" O'Reilly Duquesne.

Director/choreographer Joe Joyce's credits include associate-director of the Hollywood Bowl's "Sondheim's 75th." Joe won the Dramalogue Award for his choreography of "Situation Tragedy" and has choreographed episodes of TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Ellen." Joe has appeared on and off-Broadway in "Swinging on a Star," "Forever Plaid," and "Pageant." He also danced at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes, and toured with the National Companies of "42nd Street," "Drood," and "La Cage Aux Folles."

BY GEORGE PRODUCTIONS' mission "is the preservation of America's great musical comedies by producing lost or neglected musicals from the Art Deco period (1925-1950). We present them using only the original script and songs written for that specific musical. In 2007, BY GEORGE presented the world premiere staging of the restored Gershwin musical "Tip-Toes." In 2008, the Los Angeles premiere of Rodgers and Hart's "I'd Rather Be Right" was produced. Now we present another Los Angeles premiere."

BY GEORGE was named in honor of the many "Georges" who created musical comedy: George Abbott, George Balanchine, George M. Cohan, George Gershwin and George S. Kaufman. A new George is being added to that distinguished group: the late George Furth, who was highly supportive and enthusiastic about By George's first two shows. George Furth is considered a creator of the modern American musical with his book for Stephen Sondheim's "Company".
