Rubicon Theatre Co Presents A BROADWAY HOLIDAY

Rubicon-Theatre-Co-Presents-A-BROADWAY-HOLIDAY-20010101

Ventura's Rubicon Theatre Company is delighted to announce the next stellar evening in their audience-pleasing Broadway Cabaret Series, as David Burnham, star of such hits as Wicked and The Light in the Piazza, treads the Rubicon boards for a one-night-only musical performance entitled A Broadway Holiday, teaming up with musical director Mark Vogel to create an evening that won't soon be forgotten.

Rubicon's Broadway Cabaret Series brings stage stars of national renown to Ventura and the intimate setting of RTC, offering a little slice of Broadway to an appreciative audience. Past stars of the series include Tony Award-winning star of Million Dollar Quartet Levi Kreis, stars of Les Misérables Randal Keith & Joan Almedilla, local favorites Amanda McBroom & George Ball, Phantom of the Opera stars Davis Gaines and Teri Bibb, and many more.

The evening of music will include a selection of solos from an array of crowd-pleasing Broadway hits, offered with a generous dose of holiday favorites. Following the performance, guests are invited to mingle with the star in a holiday themed reception at the theatre. Of David's stage manner, BroadwayWorld.com quipped, "To say that Burnham had the audience eating out of his palm is an understatement. The theatre world - both men and women - adore him."

About the Star
David Burnham was last seen on Broadway in the mega-hit musical Wicked playing Fiyero, a role that he originated in the developmental workshops of the show. He is an original Broadway cast member of the musical The Light in the Piazza, performing both on the Tony Awards and the PBS telecast "Live From Lincoln Center." He is the recipient of the prestigious Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor, as well as the Best Actor Garland Award for his portrayal of Fabrizio in the national tour of The Light in the Piazza. David first gained critical acclaim when, after a two-year search, he was chosen to replace Donny Osmond as Joseph in the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, for which he won the Dramalogue Award.

He toured nationally in another Andrew Lloyd Weber blockbuster, playing Peter in Jesus Christ, Superstar. Last year in New York City, he starred in Rubicon's off-Broadway export, The Best is Yet to Come: The Music of Cy Coleman.

David performs with symphonies all over the country, and his solo concert has been seen in the United States, Canada and Europe. David has recorded two solo CDs, the self-titled "David Burnham" and "One Day." David works extensively with kids through vocal and acting workshops and hosts a summer program for young artists called Camp Sing.

About the Musical Director
Mark Vogel is a BMI award-winning composer, music director and producer. He began his early career as a concert pianist who mastered compositions by Mozart at the age of four. His resume is deep in the entertainment industry, including work in network television series like, "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place," "Delta" and "Full House" (for which he not only wrote original music, but also performed as a member of the series-featured band Jesse and the Rippers. Mark moved into the film world in 2000 and has consistently done one film each year, composing for such titles as "Raising Helen" and "The Calling."
Mark's recording and live touring credits include work with John Stamos, The Beach Boys, Natalie Cole, Marilyn McCoo, Mac Davis, Billy Davis, Jr., Kirk Cameron, FFH, Sandy Patti and Michael W. Smith. Noted also for his conducting and directing skills, Mark has conducted music throughout the world and has played for three U.S. Presidents.
