SOUVENIR, SUDS, THE WOMEN and TRU Highlight Coyote Stage Works' Starry 4th Season, Beg. Today

Coyote StageWorks launches its fourth season on November 23 with the Tony-nominated comedy "Souvenir" and follows up with a season that consists of "a little something for everyone". For the second season in a row, all productions will be staged at the Annenberg Theatre which is located at The Palm Springs Museum Of Art in downtown Palm Springs. CSW was formed in 2008 by a group of friends seeking to lead more creative lives while giving back to their community.  Some company members were looking to return to the stage after years spent in unrelated careers while others were veteran performers looking for new challenges in their careers.  The Common bond was the conviction that Theatre enriches lives.  It enriches the individual and the community. CSW's mission is to bring affordable, entertaining, and thought-provoking theatre to Palm Springs and the surrounding communities of the Coachella Valley and to create an Actors' Equity Theater of local, regional, and national influence.

Souvenir, by Stephen Temperley is the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a real member of 1940's New York society. Although Jenkins believed she was a magnificent, operatic soprano, in truth, she was incapable of singing two consecutive notes in tune.  Blissfully unaware of her handicap, Florence staged annual recitals at the Ritz-Carlton, where she resided. As news of her terrible singing spread, so did her celebrity. She became both the toast and the joke of the town.  Highlighting her career was a single concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, which famously sold out in two hours. By turns hilarious and poignant, SOUVENIR tells Florence Foster Jenkins' story through the eyes of her trusted friend and pianist, Cosme McMoon. SOUVENIR runs November 23 through Dec. 2.  !

On January 19, CSW will produce; a One-Night-Only Gala Benefit - a staged reading of THE WOMEN by Clare Booth Luce. Presented by WELLS FARGO, this wickedly funny, streamlined version of the hilarious catfight that made "jungle red" nail polish synonymous with sharp-clawed backstabbing will be a star-studded night to remember. Scheduled to appear are Lucie Arnaz, Kaye Ballard, Nancy Bleiweiss-Nevil, Mary Jo Catlett, Carole Cook, Mo Gaffney, Helene Galen, Beth Grant, Barbara Keller, Michele Lee, Vicki Lewis, Bets Malone, Charles Busch, and many more surprise guests!

February brings SUDS: THE ROCKING 60'S MUSICAL, created by Melinda Gilb, Steve Gunderson and Bryan Scott, with Musical Arrangements by Steve Gunderson, SUDS is the story of Cindy, a lovelorn girl working in a 1960's Laundromat, whose life is changed forever when her two guardian angels magically appear to teach her about boys, true love and surviving in a tough fluff-n-fold kind of world.  SUDS is a high energy musical that features over fifty pop favorites from the 60's including: "Where the Boys Are," "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," "Respect," "I Feel Good," "Walk On By," and "Don't Make Me Over." SUDS: THE ROCKING 60'S MUSICAL runs February 7th through February 17th.

On March 10, CSW will offer a very special, free theatrical event as part of their new "PLAY DATES" series. Renowned actor and Emmy Award winner, Laurence Luckinbill will present a reading of his critically acclaimed, one-man play, CLARENCE DARROW TONIGHT!  Mr. Luckinbill's award nominations include a Drama Desk, an Emmy and a Tony for CLARENCE DARROW TONIGHT, LYNDON and THE SHADOW BOX respectively.  Other credits include the original cast of ground-breaking THE BOYS IN THE BAND as well as the movie version and     STAR TREK : THE FINAL FRONTIER. "PLAY DATES" is part of Coyote StageWorks' community and educational outreach series and is FREE to the public through an arrangement with the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Annenberg Theater.
