Salonga, Feinstein, Buckley, Cook & more Lead Segerstrom Center's 2012-13 Cabaret Season

On Friday, March 2, Segerstrom Center for the Arts (formerly the Orange County Performing Arts Center) announced its brand new Cabaret Series for the 2012 - 2013 Season. Once again, familiar Broadway talent will make up most of the Center's exemplary Cabaret series, which include Tony Winners Lea Salonga, Betty Buckley, and Barbara Cook. Rounding out the line-up are husband-and-wife Broadway stars Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, and Grammy-nominated artists Michael Feinstein and Jane Monheit (with the John Pizzarelli Quartet).

CABARET SERIES
Everything about the Center's 2012 - 2013 Cabaret Series is BIG—big stars, big music and big celebrations. Larger than life personalities are joined by new artists to the Center's roster of cabaret performers. And two very special tributes: Michael Feinstein with his big band tribute to Frank Sinatra and a birthday celebration for entertainment legend and Center favorite, Barbara Cook.

JANE MONHEIT & JOHN PIZZARELLI QUARTET
October 5, 2012 – Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall
Two of today's most intoxicating vocalists join forces for an unforgettable evening of the Great American Songbook. Both artists bring a cool jazz flavor to their interpretations of classic standards, making each song fresh, unique and deeply personal.

MICHAEL FEINSTEIN: THE SINATRA PROJECT
October 27, 2012 – Segerstrom Hall
Michael Feinstein—long a champion of the Great American Songbook—returns to the Center paying tribute to the ultimate interpreter of song, Ol' Blue Eyes himself. The Sinatra Project is an evening based on Feinstein's hit album of the same title. Backed by a 17-piece big band, Feinstein focuses on songs written for Sinatra that were never recorded during his golden years at Capitol Records, and includes classics such as "Begin the Beguine," "Under My Skin," "Fools Rush In," "I've Got a Crush on You," and many more.

LEA SALONGA
January 19, 2013 – Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall
Tony and Olivier Award winner Lea Salonga burst onto the international theater scene as the title character in the blockbuster Miss Saigon. This star-making turn began a Broadway streak, with performances in Flower Drum Song and Les Misérables, including the epic 25th Anniversary celebration. Lea is known to a younger generation as the singing voice of Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin and the lead in Mulan.

MARIN MAZZIE AND JASON DANIELEY: A CABARET VALENTINE
February 14-16, 2013 – Samueli Theater
The San Francisco Chronicle hails the husband and wife duo of Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley as "Broadway's Golden Couple." For this special Valentine's Cabaret engagement, the couple takes a look at the many aspects of love through some of the greatest songs ever written. Over the course of the concert, it is clear that theirs is, indeed, a fine romance!

BARBARA COOK 85TH BIRTHDAY CONCERT
April 13, 2013 – Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall
The one-and-only Barbara Cook returns to the Center to celebrate her 85th birthday. In addition to performances from the Tony Award winner and some of today's rising Broadway talents, host Michael Kerker talks with this American treasure about her illustrious career.

BETTY BUCKLEY
May 16-18, 2013 – Samueli Theater
Through such blockbuster musicals as Cats, Pippin, and 1776 as well as celebrated turns as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and Mama Rose in Gypsy, Tony winner Betty Buckley is a performer whose name has become synonymous with Broadway. Through acclaimed concert appearances around the world, Buckley remains a quintessential leading lady of the American musical theater.

Michael Lawrence Quintos is a quiet, mild-mannered Art Director by day. But as night falls, he regularly performs on various stages everywhere as a Counter-Tenor soloist, actor, and dancer for The Men Alive Chorus since 2002. He's sung everything from Broadway, Jazz, R&B, Classical, Gospel and Pop. His musical theater roots started early, performing in various school musical productions and a couple of nationally-televised programs. The performing bug eventually brought him a brief championship run in the Philippines' version of "Star Search" before moving to Las Vegas at age 11. College brought him out to Orange County, California, where he earned a BFA in Graphic Design and a BA in Film Screenwriting. He has spent several years as a designer and art director for various entertainment company clients, while spending his free time watching or performing in shows.
