THE GRÖNHOLM METHOD Makes American Premiere at Falcon Theatre, 8/17-9/30

THE-GRNHOLM-METHOD-Makes-American-Premiere-at-Falcon-Theatre-817-930-20120706

Baby Tiger Productions, Daniel Wallace and Trish Whitehurst in association with the Falcon Theatre present the American premiere of The Grönholm Method written by Jordi Galcerán Ferrer, translated by Anne Garcia-Romero and Mark St. Germain and directed by BT McNicholl, the first production of the Falcon Theatre's 2012-2013 Subscription Season.

How far would you go to get that dream job? Just what would you be willing to do? Four corporate warriors come together in one room to compete for one senior management position using "The Grönholm Method," a system meant to separate the weak from the strong. But the weak may not be as weak as they appear. A wicked comedy that feels like a thriller, it's a fool's game of betrayals, reversals and manipulations that will keep you on The Edge of your seat.

Jordi Galcerán Ferrer (Playwright) (born in Barcelona, March 5, 1964) is a Catalan playwright, screenwriter and translator, known internationally for his play El Mètode Grönholm (The Grönholm Method, 2003). He writes in Catalan as well as Spanish. Galcerán studied Catalan Philology at the University of Barcelona and started to write theatrical plays in 1988. In 1995, with Paraules Encadenades (Words In Chains) he won the 20th "Born" Theatre Award (organized by the Artistic Circle of Ciutadella, Menorca), and in 1996, the Critic's Award Serra d'Or for best work in the Catalan language. His playDakota(1995) received the Ignasi Iglesias award. Killing Words, a 2003 film directed by Laura Mañá, is based on Paraules Encadenades. Fragile, directed by Jaume Balagueró, is also based on a script co-authored by Galceran, while The Method, directed by Marcelo Piñeyro, is a film adaptation of The Grönholm Method.

BT McNicholl (Director) has directed on Broadway for the Roundabout Theater Company and won the 2003 Australian "Tony" Award (the Helpmann) for his direction of the Mendes/Marshall version of Cabaret. Other international credits include premieres of Billy Elliot in Asia and The Producers in Europe. In developing new work for the stage, he spent two seasons directing at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, worked with Shubert Organization and consulted with MGM On Stage. With Eric Idle, he co-directed a new revue of Monty Python material that opened in LA and went on to play New York. McNicholl has been associate director for Sam Mendes, David Hare, Stephen Daldry, Mike Nichols, Rob Marshall, James Lapine, and Jerry Zaks on 12 Broadway plays. Off Broadway, he directed Kristin Chenoweth in Billion Dollar Baby (also producing the show's cast album) and is the BMI Award-winning lyricist and director of The "It" Girl. In the New York area, McNicholl recently scored a hit with his revival of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys starring Lewis J. Stadlen and Chip Zien. Regionally, McNicholl has staged award-wining productions for the Goodspeed Opera House, Walnut Street Theater, and the Dorset Theater Festival, among others. In film, McNicholl has worked on a few Scott Rudin productions; most recently the Oscar-nominated Tom Hanks/Sandra Bullock movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, for which he assisted director Stephen Daldry as a children's acting coach. A Drama League grant recipient, McNicholl has been invited to hold an annual acting master class in Paris. Upcoming projects include a new version of The Blue Angel, co-written with Jeffrey Sweet, opening in Germany in 2013.
