The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde's immortal comedy, opening this Friday, runs for 2 weekends only.
Characterized by Wilde as "a trivial comedy for serious people," The Importance of Being Earnest has Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff taking on the same "Ernest" alias in hopes of wooing their ladies, Gwendolyn Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Unfortunately, the scheme goes comically awry. Enter the gorgon-esque Lady Bracknell to help sort things out.
The Importance of Being Earnest has been revived numerous times on Broadway - most recently in 2011 - and was also adapted into a 2002 film with Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth.
