'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' Postponed To Taper's 2010 Season

Martin McDonagh's dark comedy "The Lieutenant of Inishmore," originally scheduled as the fourth production of Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum's 2009 season, will be postponed to the Taper's 2010 season, it was announced today by CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. There will be no production in the Taper in July and August.

"This is a decision that fits the economic times we're all going through," said Ritchie. "We are acting prudently by postponing ‘The Lieutenant of Inishmore' to a new fiscal year. This will allow us to ensure the quality production that this important play deserves without jeopardizing our budget.

"Having said that, we should also make it clear that CTG is not in financial trouble. This is a stable organization and we are planning ahead to make sure that we keep it that way."

Taper season ticket holders will be given a credit on their CTG account that they can use toward the purchase of tickets at all three CTG theatres (this includes using that credit for the Taper's 2010 season or the Ahmanson's and Douglas' 2009-2010 season), or as a donation to CTG, or they can receive a refund.

Currently on stage in the Taper's 2009 season is the co-production with Deaf West Theatre of "Pippin" which has performances through March 15; followed by Octavio Solis' "Lydia," April 2 through May 17; David Mamet's "Oleanna," May 28 through July 12; the Alfred Uhry/Jason Robert Brown musical "Parade," September 24 through November 15; and Richard Montoya and Culture Clash's "Palestine, New Mexico," December 3, 2009, through January 24, 2010.
