The Something-Nothing Opens Sept. 19 at The Lounge Theatre

Theatre Planners presents the World Premiere of The Something-Nothing, a hyper romantic comedy by Fielding Edlow, creator of the "Best of NYC Fringe" award-winning, Coke-Free J.A.P. Directing is Kiff Scholl. Racquel Lehrman is producing. The Something-Nothing opens Saturday, Sept. 19 at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood.

Set in the West Village, Edlow's free-wheeling stagework wallows in the machinations of three lost 27 year-old narcissists who are enmeshed in a web of e-mails, poetic diatribes and gallons of Jim Beam. The audience is plunged into an unrequited love triangle between a drunken lesbian stage manager, Mr. Sensitive ponytail man and a raging people pleaser. The production stars Robyn Cohen, Annika Marks, and Michael Rubenstone.

Fielding Edlow, a native New Yorker, has had her plays produced/workshopped in New York and Los Angeles with Naked Angels, NY Stage & Film, PSNBC, Dixon Place, The Culture Project, NY Fringe Festival and Home for Contemporary Arts. The Something-Nothing was recently workshopped at the Lounge Theatre with the Mineral Theatre Co. Her newest play, Admissions, was workshopped at NY Stage & Film with John Pankow. Her one-woman show, Coke-Free J.A.P., premiered at the 2001 NYC Fringe Festival and received the "Best of Fringe award" from Backstage. Its subsequent West Coast Premiere, directed by Craig Carlisle, enjoyed a four-month, sold-out run at the McCadden Place Theatre. Daily Variety declared, "Edlow's virtuoso material offers a captivating portrayal of a soul in crisis."

Kiff Scholl was listed as one of L.A.'s emerging and accomplished stage directors by LA Weekly's Steven Leigh Morris. Most recently, Scholl directed Bill Robens' critically acclaimed Kill Me, Deadly at Theatre of NOTE and Don't Forget to Remember by Patricia Parker at The Lounge. Kiff helmed the multiple award-winning La Bête by David Hirson at Sacred Fools, garnering an LA Weekly Award, a Drama Critics Circle award and six Back Stage West Garlands, including Best Production and Best Director.

Robyn Cohen currently stars in the film Beau Jest opposite Lainie Kazan. Local stage credits include: Neil LaBute's The Shape Of Things (Laguna Playhouse), The Grand Tour (Colony Theater) and Proof (Long Beach Playhouse). Regionally, she has performed at Lincoln Center, The Ford's Theater (D.C.), Sacramento Light Opera, Paper Mill Playhouse, The Goodspeed Opera House, and as a Kit Kat girl in the national tour of Cabaret.

Annika Marks recently played Betty in the Fountain Theatre's production of The Accomplices (Odyssey Theatre Ensemble). Other LA stage credits include Ensemble Studio Theatre's The Last Seder (Greenway), Pipeman on the Moon (Hudson Mainstage), and Early Decision (Edgemar). Memorable NYC theater roles include Dan in Pull (The Producer's Club) and Nina in The Seagull (Circle in the Square).

Michael Rubenstone's theater credits include The Skin of our Teeth (Williamstown Theatre Festival), Romeo and Juliet (Pittsburgh Public Theatre), Butter (EST-LA). Film and TV credits include: Jericho, Private Practice, Callback, Chasing Happiness. Rubenstone is currently directing his first feature length documentary on the prolific funk band, Sly and the Family Stone.

The production design team includes: Set Designer - Mark Mendelson, whose extensive credits include the recent, Fatboy (NeedTheater - L.A. Weekly Theater Awards nomination); Costume Designer - Sharell Martin, who created the original designs for the award-winning West Coast Premiere of The Marvelous Wonderettes; Lighting Designer - Nick McCord, who recently lit Spit Like a Big Girl for the Rubicon Theatre Company and Everybody Say Cheese!! at the Falcon Theatre; and Sound Design - Steve Altman, a writer/composer who has worked with Motown, Disney, HBO, Comedy Central, Fox, Popular Arts Entertainment, Jay Leno and George Lopez . Angelica Estevez is Production Stage Manager.

The Something-Nothing previews Fri, Sept. 18, 8pm. Opening Night is Saturday, September 19 at 8pm, with performances continuing Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, until Oct. 24.
