Weddington Street Productions proudly presents Debbie Reynolds: Alive & Fabulous, starring the legendary Debbie Reynolds with Musical Director Joey Singer. The award-winning actress whose career spans six decades, brings her one-woman show to the historic El Portal Theatre Mainstage in North Hollywood for nine performances only September 23- October 3, 2010. This will be her 3rd consecutive engagement at the NOHO landmark.

In addition Debbie Reynolds: ALIVE & FABULOUS will incorporate a very special Thalians Red Carpet Celebrity Evening at the El Portal Theatre on Friday, September 24th. Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee founded the Thalians 55 years ago and continue to raise money for mental health from Pediatrics to Geriatrics.

This special evening will start at 6:30 pm with a Silent Auction, tray passing of Gourmet Appetizers, amazing cocktails, and then Debbie Reynolds: Alive and Fabulous on stage followed by special guest stars.

Debbie Reynolds who grew up in Burbank and rode her bicycle to the El Portal Movie Palace at 15 to see the double-features, cartoons and serials of the day. One year later, she would be starring in the movies at MGM. And this is the same Debbie Reynolds who was named "Miss Burbank" in 1948, was a cheerleader for John Burroughs High School, and who went on to "Singin' in the Rain" fame, starring Donald O' Connor and Gene Kelly, to "Tammy," to the Oscar®- nominated "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," and another 25 films.

She has more awards and accolades than any star in show business -- two Walk of Fame Stars (not one!) on Hollywood Blvd.

And this is the same Debbie Reynolds who, in the late 70's, established DR Studios in North Hollywood on Lankershim Blvd., for dance and theatre rehearsals and auditions. DR Studios continues to launch and rehearse many of today's major musicals, concert tours, and TV specials. Just like "Superwoman," Debbie is here, there and everywhere! This year, in three months alone, she has traveled to England, Australia, Florida, Texas, Atlantic City, Washington, Chicago, and more.

Built in 1926, the El Portal Theatre is an historical landmark located in the heart of NoHo. The El Portal theatre opened in the San Fernando Valley, as a vaudeville and silent movie theatre. During the sound era, it became one of the city's most prominent second-run houses. It eventually became an all-Spanish language movie theatre. Rebuilt in the late 90s and opened in January of 2000, the once 1400-seat movie palace now houses three theatres and an art gallery.
