The Palm Springs Art Museum's Artists Council will be holding its annual 99 Bucks art sale fundraiser on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 4:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Zoso in downtown Palm Springs. This event features free admission with a cash bar where more than 550 5"x 7" canvases that have been submitted by artists and celebrities will be available for sale, each at $99. These canvases are sold anonymously, so the artist's name is not revealed until the work is purchased. All proceeds for the event benefit the museum's educational programming.

A Fluid Movement Shakespeare Troupe brings one of the Bard's best loved and most produced works, MACBETH, to The Annenberg Theater for three performances, April 20 - 22. This is the fist time in years that The Annenberg Theatre, uniquely located within The Palm Springs Art Museum, has played home to Shakespeare. Theater Manager Dave Simpson says 'the museum believes Shakespeare and the classics are well suited to a museum theater and we are very interested in seeing how the public responds to classical theatre on our stage.'

Phantom's Leading Ladies, a trio of Broadway veterans who have all performed the role of 'Christine Daae' from The Phantom of the Opera brought an eclectic evening of music and mostly glorious three-part harmonies to The Annenberg Theater on April 14. The women that comprise The Phantom's Leading Ladies -- Teri Bibb, Karen Culliver and Mary D'Arcy -- have collectively performed more than 4,000 performances of Broadway's longest running musical and have played opposite 32 different Phantoms - on Broadway, on national tours and in Canada.

1970's pop icon Engelbert Humperdinck, dubbed "The King Of Romance", brings his trademark vocal stylings and bedroom eyes to the beautiful McCallum Theatre for two performances on April 13 and 14 at 8:00 pm. Selling more than 150 million records over the past 40 years, Humperdinck has earned four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe for Entertainer of The Year in 1988, a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame and countless swooning fans along the way. I had the chance to chat for a few minutes with the music legend. Here are a few highlights from that conversation:

The Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum presents the return engagement of one of today's most celebrated sibling acts, the Tony-nominated actresses Liz Callaway and Ann Hampton Callaway, who will reprise last season's sold out engagement for one night only, April 7 at 8:00 pm. The concert will feature highlights form their critically acclaimed shows "Sibling Rivalry", "Relative Harmony" and their newest show "Boom".

The McCallum Theatre presents the Cirque Mechanics' critically acclaimed BOOM TOWN April 5-7. Cirque Mechanics was founded in 2004 and quickly established itself as a premiere American circus. With its unique approach to performance, inspiring storytelling and innovative mechanical staging it has been hailed as "the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil". I had the chance to sit down with Chris Lashua, the troupe's founder and Creative Director, to chat about all things Cirque. Here are a few highlights from that conversation:

The McCallum Theatre transforms itself from theatre to big top as it brings to the stage the hilarious and exciting Cirque Mechanics BOOM TOWN for four performances, April 5-7. Cirque Mechanics was founded in 2004 by Boston native and German Wheel artist, Chris Lashua, after the success of his collaborative project with the Circus Center of San Francisco, Birdhouse Factory and quickly established itself as a premiere American circus. With its unique approach to performance, inspiring storytelling and innovative mechanical staging it has been hailed as "the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil".

The Tony Award winning Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS, which celebrates life in a Washington Heights barrio, breezed in and out of the beautiful McCallum Theatre for three sold-out performances last weekend and did not disappoint - mostly.

The evening promises a lot of humor, a lot of harmony and a lot of class as the ladies sing everything from classical Broadway to The Beatles.

Stephen Schwartz, the three-time Academy Award-winning Broadway legend and composer, and Broadway icon Andrea McArdle will appear in Palm Springs on May 19 in "When You Believe: A Conversation With and Tribute To Stephen Schwartz" at the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Grammy nominated comic Lisa Lampanelli brings her infamous stand up to the desert's premiere showroom, The SHOW, at The Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage for one night only on April 7. The outrageous and bawdy, loveable Queen of Mean has been almost unanimously heralded as the breakout star of this season's Celebrity Apprentice and is widely embraced for her "no holds barred", equal opportunity offensive humor. She has been called a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker and a vial of estrogen and her politically incorrect wit takes no prisoners.

Last night the McCallum Theatre played host to a double bill of music and comedy that, at first glance, seemed like a very odd pairing --- a duo with nothing in common - Tony winner and multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominated stage and television actor Hal Linden and comedian David Brenner, who is best known as the comic who had the greatest number of appearances on Johnny Carson's tonight show. But, what an incredible evening it was! The common denominator was sheer talent and it paid off in spades for the near sell-out crowd. Each entertainer delivered a finely crafted, hour-long performance and either act, alone, would have been well worth the price of admission.

The McCallum Theatre presents an evening of comedy and music with David Brenner and Hal Linden on March 29 at 8:00 pm. Hal Linden is the Tony Award winning and multiple Golden Globe and Emmy nominated star whose decades-long career has spanned all theatrical genres, from stage to film to television. He began his show business career as a clarinet player and later toured as a singer with Sammy Kaye, Bobby Sherwood and Boyd Raeburn bands which eventually led him to an acting career. His Broadway debut was opposite Judy Holliday in Bells Are Ringing and he later went on to a critically acclaimed performance in the revival of Anything Goes and his Tony-winning star turn in The Rothchilds. I had the opportunity to catch up with this dynamic entertainer and lovely man for a few minutes - here are some highlights from our conversation:

Last night I walked into the beautiful McCallum Theatre with tremendous anticipation of a stirring and insightful evening --- the opportunity to have a "Conversation With Larry King". You would think that a man who has spent the past several decades talking with the most fascinating and important people in politics and pop culture would have had more to say. I am sad to say, I was disappointed.

Platinum-selling multi-Grammy winning singer songwriter Colbie Caillat will take time out from promoting her latest album, All of You, to perform at The Humane Society of the United States' 26th Genesis Awards on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills. Known for her dedication to the animal protection cause, Colbie will sing one of her signature songs at this annual event considered by many to be "The Oscars"® for the strongest animal portrayals in news and entertainment media. The 26th Genesis Awards will air on Animal Planet on May 5, with an encore presentation on May 6.

The critically acclaimed A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN, which chronicles the life of Jake Ehrenreich, a uniquely talented American born child of Holocaust survivors, graces the stage of the Annenberg Theatre for a three week engagement beginning March 7. Through stories and comedy and music, performed with a live band and multi-media video and photos, Jake recreates his unforgettable journey of discovery and life lessons learned.

Last weekend's 75 mile per hour winds may have left the roof of The McCallum Theatre intact, but the electrifying production of BLAST! just might do the trick! The sheer energy of this Tony-Award (2001 Tony Award For "Best Special Theatrical Event) and Emmy-Award (2001 Emmy Award For "Best Choreography" For A Prime Time Show) winning musical spectacular is difficult to put into words - even for a man who makes his living putting things into words. Let me start by saying, if you have plans you can change -- run over to the McCallum Theatre and snatch up the few remaining seats for this limited engagement. It is sure to be one of the most exciting evenings you will spend in the theatre. Guaranteed!

Diana Krall, the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning musician with an unprecedented nine #1 Billboard Jazz chart debuts, will begin her biggest year of touring since 2009 on March 22. After multiple appearances during Grammy week in Los Angeles, Krall is announcing nearly 20 additional dates on her 40-city, 2012 "SUMMER NIGHTS" tour, taking place across the U.S. this spring and summer.

The Las Vegas Hotel and Casino has announced its exciting Spring Season, ranging from Liza Minnelli and Chicago to Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show and 'The King' starring Trent Carlini. Billed as 'The last remaining great showroom in Las Vegas', the 1,700-seat LVH theater will be home to headline entertainers and Broadway shows, while the smaller Shimmer Cabaret will feature more intimate theatrical events and musicals.
