Native Voices at the Autry, America's leading Native American theatre company, continues its tradition of excellence, developing plays by new and established Native American Playwrights at its highly regarded PLAYWRIGHTS RETREAT AND FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS, and culminating in free staged public readings of three intriguing new works today, May 29, 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 30, 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, May 31, 2013, 7:30 p.m., at the Autry National Center's Wells Fargo Theater in Los Angeles.

Native Voices at the Autry will present a free staged reading of Emergency Management, a new play by Jason Grasl (Blackfeet*) tonight, October 25, 2012, 7:30 pm, at the Wells Fargo Theater at the Autry National Center in Griffith Park. Packed with intrigue and suspense, Emergency Management chronicles a Cheyenne boy adopted into a non-Native family. Now a rising political star in Arizona, he tries to be everything to everyone. When his sister is kidnapped and held for ransom, he must reassess his life and overcome deep, dark secrets to save his career and his family. The reading is followed by an audience 'Talk-Back' with Grasl and the director.

In the two vastly different works, which showcase his wit and humor, Greygrass portrays an astonishing 38 characters. Kevin Sifuentes (Hopi*) directs both productions. Randy Reinholz (Choctaw*) is Native Voices' Producing Artistic Director, and Jean Bruce Scott is Producing Executive Director.

STAGE TUBE: ROCKY HORROR SHOW Gets Banned From Georgia Arts Center

A Georgia production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, playing at Atlanta's Plaza Theatre has just been shut down by local political leaders for being overly offensive and too risque. After the mayor, Wayne Garner, was shown a video of the show in rehearsal, officials decided that an R-rated farce was not suitable for a city-owned venue, and the production was stopped.
