The Sol Project, the new New York-based theater collective raising visibility for Latinx playwrights, has received funding to support the initiative's first production, Hilary Bettis's Alligator, directed by Elena Araoz, presented in collaboration with New Georges at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres, November 27-December 18, 2016.

Latino Theater Company's 10th annual Gala - The Latino Theater Company celebrates 30 years of success with a fundraising "Dia de los Muertos" gala event featuring a cocktail reception, silent auction and gourmet dinner. Honoring public figures who have dedicated their careers and lives to servicing the arts in Los Angeles, LTC's Marco Antonio Firebaugh Legacy Award will be presented to Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de Leon; retired partner of Latham & Watkins Donald P. Baker; Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Entertainment John Naveira; and General Manager of Goya California Robert A. Unanue. The company's Lupe Ontiveros Dream Award will go to Associate Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group Diane Rodriguez. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Latino Theater Company's productions as well as outreach programs that contribute arts education and cultural enrichment to our city.

Amigos del REP and San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) have announced the schedule of their free reading series by Latino/a artists for the remainder of 2016. The six performances in San Diego REP's Lyceum Stage and Lyceum Space theatres include the variety show "Club Cafe" produced by John Padilla and Dave Rivas; "King Liz" written by Fernanda Coppel (ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder") and directed by Elsa Martinez; the politically driven "The Sweetheart Deal" written and directed by Center Theatre Group's Associate Artistic Director Diane Rodriguez; "El Cipitio," a collaboration from original Culture Clash members Herbert Siguenza and Ric Salinas withRandy Ertll, directed by Siguenza and based on Ertll's novel "The Lives and Times of El Cipitio;" the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration "Historias Tenebrosas" produced by Dave Rivas; and a yet to be announced family-friendly holiday show presented in December at the Downtown Central Library, directed by Bryant Hernandez.
