The theater shutdown has been hard on everyone in the industry. That is true even of actors. While the average naïve reader might think of acting as a lucrative profession, many theater actors, especially New York-based ensemble members, dona??t typically have a lot of extra cash. Yes, even the lowest tier Broadway contract pays fairly well, but it is not as if the work is consistent. So what do those folks do now?

On Wednesday September 25, local Atlanta school DeKalb Academy of Technology and the Environment, Inc., also known as D.A.T.E., got their Golden Ticket! Cast members from the Broadway tour of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (currently playing the Fox Theatre until September 29 as the first show of the 2019-2020 Broadway in Atlanta season) participated in a special Q&A with a group of drama students, including those who performed in the school's own production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last spring.

This past Thursday Broadway Sessions celebrated the 5th birthday of our beloved and uber-talented musical director, Joshua Stephen Kartes. Joshua had but one birthday wish- he wanted to blow out his candles like 'Bobby' in Sondheim's masterpiece, Company. So that's exactly what we gave him!

Broadway Babysitters Officially Launches Audition Childcare Drop-Off Center in NYC, Open House on 3/15

Broadway Babysitters announces the opening of their first Audition Drop-off Center in Midtown Manhattan at Pearl Studios, 520 8th Avenue. Broadway Babysitters is a childcare provider created to not only meet the needs of the families in New York City, but to also serve the performing artist community and their families. The new Audition Drop-off Center will be offering an Open House on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 11am-1pm so that actor-parents can have a sneak peek of what the service will entail. The Audition Drop-off Center will be followed by the opening of the Broadway Babysitters Babysitting Agency which is set to launch in the Spring of 2016.
