Oliver! The Musical, Lionel Bart's classic musical, starring Frank Minano as Fagin, opened last weekend at The Grove Theatre to standing ovations. Based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist, the Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, played by Jordan Granda, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves, including the Artful Dodger, played by Dante Marenco and pickpockets, led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow (Bud Harte) takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sykes (Patrick McMahon) and the sympathetic Nancy (Julie Kirkpatrick) to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver's chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Continuing their successful 2013 Season, Ophelia's Jump Productions is honored to present two acclaimed plays this summer that break that will challenge, entertain and allow local audiences to experience these groundbreaking works in local settings. For the first time in the area, local audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy these recent and acclaimed award-winning plays by one of Southern California's newest and acclaimed theatre companies.

A CHORUS LINE opened at the Lewis Family Playhouse: Broadway at the Gardens this weekend. Only three performances left Friday March 16th at 7:30pm, Saturday March 17th at 7:30pm, and Sunday March 18th at 2pm.
