 Z Space continues its commitment to bringing the most innovative new theatre works to the Bay Area with New York City's Stein | Holum Projects and their acclaimed performance piece, The Wholehearted, September 7-10 in San Francisco.

With a book by Terrence McNally, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and now under the direction of (and also featuring choreography by) Terry Norgeot, The Full Monty has arrived at the Provincetown Theatre, in association with Peregrine Theatre Ensemble. Based on the cult-hit film of the same name, this ten-time Tony-Award nominee is one of the most unconventionally 'real' musicals you are ever bound to say; it is a surprisingly dramatic story trapped in the body of a semi-comedic musical, and the songs are an added bonus in bringing both its characters and the audience away from real-life issues by the comedic way in which they are dealt with.

Well, it's been awhile - and to be quite honest, not a ton of progress has been made since I introduced my current project. As I believe I mentioned, myself and a few other students at my college have for the last two years produced full-fledged productions of musicals in less than 24 hours. Beginning this fall, we are trying to expand our 'season', if you will, with another full student production, however this time rehearsed sparsely over the course of two weeks instead of all in one day (with an approx. total rehearsal time of 40 hours). Our hope is that this will give us a chance to produce larger scale shows, with more complex elements, and larger, more inclusive casts.

?It wouldn't be summer without Artists' Exchange's One Act Play Festival, hosted this July 22-August 13 in the intimate Theatre 82 black box in Cranston (82 Rolfe Square)!  Community actors will perform 17 original one act plays written by local and national playwrights, whose works were selected from over 1,100 total submissions.  The festival is broken down into two unique performance "Waves," with Wave 1 running July 22-30 and Wave 2 running August 5-13; both rated PG-13.  Tickets are now on sale for $15 in advance, available for purchase online (www.artists-exchange.org), by phone (401-490-9475), or in person at Artists' Exchange (50 Rolfe Square).

 Fun House Theatre and Film makes their first appearance at the Festival of Independent Theatres with a production of Charlie Varon'sRush Limbaugh in Night School directed by Jeff Swearingen and featuring Alex Duva, age 12, as Limbaugh along with 3 other young actors tackling over a dozen characters in a comedy as rotund as its namesake. These bad boys of the FIT will take audiences on a 45 minute adventure of irreverent and mischevious satire in a free for all of shenanigans only Swearingen could stage and the crazy kids of Fun House could pull off. 

ABC Family has picked up a two-hour New York Fashion Week documentary, "Baring It All: Inside New York Fashion Week," which will give viewers behind-the-scenes access to one of the fashion industry's biggest events of the year.

Wallis Center for the Performing Arts ("The Wallis") and Neiman Marcus present Ken Downing, Senior Vice President, Fashion Director at Neiman Marcus, leading a discussion titled Designer As Dramatist -- The Intersection Of Fashion And Theater with special guest, fashion designer Zac Posen. Ken will also welcome mother-daughter supermodels Pat and Anna Cleveland and designer Christian Siriano. This inside look into the world of fashion and a lively conversation led by Ken is sponsored by Neiman Marcus and is the final presentation of The Wallis' Arts & Ideas 2014-2015 series. The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces its theater, music, dance, lectures and Theater for Young Audiences programming for the 2014-2015 Season, which begins today, October 7-19 with the Edinburgh-based Puppet State Theatre Company production of The Man Who Planted Trees in the Lovelace Studio Theater; and in the Bram Goldsmith Theater a new lecture series in partnership with Writers Bloc, presenting a conversation with Leon Panetta on October 15 and Marsalis Well Tempered: An Evening with Branford Marsalis featuring the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on October 16.

He assumes the role from Drew Gehling who departed the production following Sunday's performance.
