YOU Dance Livestream Reaches 25,400 Students Across Canada

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Executive Director Barry Hughson today announced that YOU dance, the company's signature education and community engagement programme, will be livestreamed to a record breaking 25,400 students at 500 schools in 200 cities across Canada. During this unprecedented school year, the National Ballet is pleased to offer students the opportunity to experience YOU dance once again.

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada and Barry Hughson, Executive Director today announced the great artistic and financial success of the 2018/19 season, which resulted in an operating surplus for the 10th consecutive year. The Annual General Meeting was held today at 6:30 pm at The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada in Toronto.

Lifetime has greenlit the new movie, NXIVM Cult: A Mother's Nightmare (working title), centering on the shocking true story of Catherine Oxenberg and her fight to save her daughter India from a dangerous sex cult. Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) takes on the role of Catherine while Peter Facinelli (Twilight) stars as Keith Raniere, the charming and charismatic secret organization leader with devious motives. Jasper Polish (Devil's Whisper) also stars as India and Sara Fletcher (Secret Girlfriend) portrays Keith's associate in the cult, actress Allison Mack.

Karen Kain, Artistic Director, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced that a record-breaking number of 24,000 students across Canada will tune in to experience a performance of YOU dance, the company's signature education and outreach programme, on May 15, 2019 live from Daniels Spectrum in Toronto's Regent Park. The livestream is part of YOU dance's fifth residency in Regent Park which takes place May 13 - 16, 2019.

Can a cute photo save a life? Absolutely, if the photo is of a pet in a shelter, says famed pet photographer Seth Casteel. Teaming up with GreaterGood's The Animal Rescue Site and Petfinder Foundation, Casteel is barnstorming, or more appropriately, "shelter storming" across the nation to teach anyone with a digital camera how to help their local shelter. Casteel will visit shelters in New Jersey, Nevada, California, Illinois, and North Carolina between April and September. At every stop, he will offer a free half-day workshop for anyone who wants to learn how to take a better pet photograph. Registration is now open at www.onepicturesaves.com for anyone who wants to participate. Space is limited and early registration for the public workshops is recommended.

This year's series of seven shorts will debut online with a new film every Wednesday from tonight, April 24 - June 5, 2013.
