According to Variety, Universal is currently developing a big screen 'reimagining' of the classic sci-fi tale, which has spawned two separate television series: the original, which ran from 1978-89, and starred Lorne Green and Richard Hatch; and Syfy's reboot, starring Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff, and Mary McDonnell, which aired from 2003-09.

TNT's hit original series Major Crimes closed out its second season Monday night with 5.4 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery, a +10% increase over the prior week. The drama, which has ranked as basic cable's #1 original series for four consecutive weeks, beat its Monday competition to rank as the top cable program of the night. Among TNT's targeted demos, the season finale of Major Crimes scored 1.4 million adults 25-54 in Live + Same Day (+6% vs. the prior week) and 1.1 million adults 18-49 (+4%).
