East West Players' 44th Anniversary Season Emphasizes The Major Presence And Value Of Art With ART, PO BOY TANGO, CAVE QUEST, And ROAD TO SAIGON

East West Players' (EWP) 44th Anniversary Season includes a white painting costing 200k, a Chinese cooking show, a video game about world peace according to Buddhist, and an inside look at performer who played the lead role of Kim of Miss Saigon. This season, themed Art is... includes Art, by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, Po Boy Tango by Kenneth Lin, Cave Quest by Les Thomas and Road to Saigon developed and directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera.

James Irvine Foundation Honors East West Players Twice

Earlier this month, Tim Dang, producing artistic director of East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, was honored with a 2009 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award for increasing understanding of and appreciation for California's diversity and creating new opportunities for Asian American artists.

Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director of Pan Asian Repertory Theatre announces its 33rd season with the East Coast premiere of IMELDA, A New Musical. The limited engagement plays September 22nd - October 18th, 2009 at The Julia Miles Theatre, 424 West 55th Street. Opening night is Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, increases their star-studded evening with appearances from some of Asian America's top media personalities. Leading the evening's festivities as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies will be actor Francois Chau and actress Tamlyn Tomita. There will also be appearance by Carrie Ann Inaba, State Controller John Chiang, Amy Hill, HGTV's Jonathan Fong and performances by TAIKOPROJECT and vocalist Ethan Le Phong. The award winning event will take place at the Hilton Universal City on Monday, April 27, 2009. Proceeds from the event will benefit East West Players' educational and artistic programs. Previously announced performers are Lea Salonga, The Three Filipino Tenors and Quest Crew.

EWP also happily announces two newly confirmed honorees, Academy Award winning director Jessica Yu and MTV's America's Best Dance Crew winner Quest Crew. Yu and Quest Crew will join Actor John Cho and the California Community Foundation as this year's 43rd Anniversary's honorees.
