Playwrights 6 is pleased to present award-winning playwright David J. Duman's "Goliath" as a staged reading at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 at Celebration Theatre, 7051 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood.
The reading is free and open to the public. A reception with snacks and refreshments will be held afterwards.
In "Goliath," the main character David travels to Virginia to visit his dying grandmother while in the sun-scorched deserts of Biblical-era Gath, Goliath prepares for battle. As the fight approaches, the two worlds collapse into a comic re-envisioning of their mythic duel.
Duman's plays have been produced at several venues in San Francisco, including El Teatro de la Esperanza, The Jon Sims Center, The McKenna Theatre, the Studio Theatre at San Francisco State University, the San Francisco Theatre Festival, and the Thick House. He's been a semi-finalist in the Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis' PlayLabs, a finalist in Killing My Lobster's New Play Project, and an Audience Choice award winner in the Amnesia/826 Valencia 10-Minute Play Contest. His play "Fishing" recently completed a sold-out run Emeryville, produced by No Nude Men Productions. He's a member of Playwrights 6 and the Dramatists' Guild of America.
"Goliath" is the second in this year's Playwrights 6's staged reading series, dubbed "Play Night with the Playwright."
