Director Alina Phelan is a master of visual comedy and everything you see has a punchline if you are willing to look for it. Vangsness’ impersonation is a biting satire that far supersedes anything Lorne Michaels’ could get away with putting on TV.

Theatre of Note world premieres Phinny Kiyomura’s Nimrod February 10, 2023 (with previews February 8th & 9th).  TV’s Criminal Minds favorite Kirsten Vangsness stars as Nimrod. Kirsten managed to find time in her hectic, busy schedule to answer a few of my queries.

Theatre of NOTE will start the new year with the World Premiere of Kirsten Vangsness (“Criminal Minds”) starring as “Nimrod” in the world premiere of NIMROD by Phinneas Kiyomura and directed by Alina Phelan. 

Jim Leonard has published eight plays, including The Diviners, And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson, and Battle Hymn, with his theatrical honors including the Outer Critics Circle Award, an Ovation Award, the Dramatists Guild Award, and an LA Weekly Award for best play.

Directed by Ben Martin (Open Fist’s Under Milk Wood), the LA premiere of Anatomy of Gray is set for a November 19, 2022 opening at Atwater Village Theatre, where performances continue through January 21, 2023.

Moving Arts announced it will present readings of five new plays this weekend, October 9-10, 2021, as part of its Eighth Annual First Look Reading Series.

The need for personal isolation during 2020 appears to have led to a plethora of solo shows being developed and performed online and in person in which performers create mostly autobiographical tales meant to unify their own experience with the rest of us. So when I heard about Rachel Parker's world premiere of her darkly funny, moving The Wolfe & The Bird premiering at the Matrix Theatre on September 18, I decided to ask her about its development as well as the many characters which play a part in her story via voiceover artists.

Theatre of NOTE's production of 'For The Love Of (or, the roller derby play)' written by Gina Femia, which Center Theatre Group has remounted at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of their third annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre, blasted into Culver City with a barrage of brilliant direction, choreography, artistic style and acting. And after seeing the original production in its super-small space, I can tell you the new production soars by encompassing ever possible inch of space, thanks to scenic designer Eli Smith, with enough impressive roller derby action to make you forget not one pair of skates ever touches the floor! That marvel of perfect direction and choreography can be credited to Rhonda Kohl who has created almost constant roller derby action utilizing the movement and acting skills of her talented cast

Theatre of NOTE announces its production of Alternative Acts, an evening of 7 one-acts including: Out To Breakfast by Andrew Tarr, Benefits of a Gauntlet by Gina Garcia-Sharp, Sandwich by Kirsten Vangsness, Mr. Picmanby Tom Cavanaugh, Youniverse by Tennyson E. Stead, VladFather by Jennifer Hugus and Transitions by Bill Robens. Alternative Actswill open on Friday, August 25 at 10pm and run through Saturday, September 16 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood. Evening will begin with live music, food and drink.

Theatre of NOTE is presenting two world premieres plays running in repertory: RED HELEN, written by Jennifer Barclay and directed by Bill Voorhees, and SUPPER, written by Phinneas Kiyomura and directed by Alina Phelan. SUPPER opened last night, April 6, for a run through Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.
