In 1992, a small fishing town in Nova Scotia, Canada launched the Liverpool International Theatre Festival, hoping to attract tourism. Little Theatre of Norfolk will perform there this fall under director John B. Gillis, who lived in Nova Scotia back when the festival first formed. Performance Dates are Nov. 29 - Dec. 22, 2019 - 25 performances Only Wed. Thurs. Fri. at 8:00pm, Sat. at 3:00p and 8:00pm, Sun. at 2:00pm and 7:00pm with Special Matinee Performances Wed. Dec. 11 at 3:00pm.

The Golden Girls Live celebrated 1800 performances on September 28th, and has been extended through 2020.

And what if the first episode of that season included the girls doing Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor? The gay gasps would be deafening. Good news, Slipstream Theatre Initiative reimagines Shakespeare's comedy as just that - and invites you to a live filming of Season 8, episode 1: The Golden Girls do Merry Wives!

Performances of The Golden Girls Musical Parody: PRIDE Edition begin Wednesday, June 19 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue) for a three-week engagement through July 6. Hailed 'hilariously outsized' by The New York Times, the musical comedy - updated with new story elements for PRIDE and featuring an original pop score - is written and directed by Nick Brennan with music, lyrics and movement also by Mr. Brennan.

Sixteen years ago (2003) Golden Girls LIVE: On Stage! was created by real-life couple Peter Mac and John Mac as a loving tribute in the style of Brady Bunch LIVE. The Macs created a loving drag parody of everyone's favorite sitcom, which played to sold out audiences at the now-shuttered Rose's Turn in the West Village. The show uses on-target impersonations of the original actresses as source material (they play Estelle Getty and Beatrice Arthur, respectively) and creates original improv-parody situations to bring the girls back for the reunion fans never got.

If you've never heard of Harvey Fierstein, it's a bit hard to explain why. A four time Tony Award winner, Fierstein has had a hand in a seemingly endless list of projects from Hairspray to Kinky Boots to Mulan. Now, he's back on the Broadway marquee with his revamped production of The Torch Song Trilogy.
