Longlisted for The Bruntwood Prize, Carla Kingham directs the world premiere of Phil Ormrod's searing new play about searching for a future in the dying heart of England. A lack of opportunity in rural England impacts strongly on young men and breeds a culture of toxic masculinity, which the production is looking to tackle with a comprehensive engagement programme with a variety of youth groups in Wandsworth and Reading.
The musical, Floyd Collins, has just two weeks left of its run in the atmospheric East End gem, Wilton's Music Hall, with just 14 performances up until 15th October. The critically acclaimed musical, set in Kentucky in 1925, tells the extraordinary true story of a cave explorer who dreams of finding fame and fortune deep underground. When the unthinkable happens and he becomes trapped, it is a desperate race against time as Collins' friends and family fight to set him free and keep his spirits up through a dark and dangerous time. Above ground, his plight catches the eye of the local press, and as the days and weeks pass, the whole country is riveted by his story and the media circus that surrounds it.
Musical FLOYD COLLINS today announces its fantastic cast. It will star original Chicago cast member of Wicked Ashley Robinson as cave explorer Floyd Collins, with Rebecca Trehearn, fresh from the critically acclaimed West End production of Showboat, playing his sister Nellie Collins. Jack Chissick, who recently appeared in the 2016 Olivier Award-winning production of Gypsy in the West End, has been cast as Lee Collins, with Sarah Ingram as Miss Jane, whose West End credits include Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Martin Guerre and Flashdance.
Following on from the A Tale Of Two Cities, The Body Of An American and Every Last Trick, Royal & Derngate's Made In Northampton 2014 season continues with Patrick Marber's award-winning play Dealer's Choice. Taking to the Royal stage from Friday 23 May to Saturday 14 June, before transferring to Oxford Playhouse for a week, Dealer's Choice will be directed by Michael Longhurst, who recently directed The World of Extreme Happiness at London's National Theatre.
