The Los Angeles Zoo's annual WILD FOR THE PLANET celebration kicks off on Earth Day weekend, Saturday, April 21, 10 am to 4 pm, and runs through Endangered Species Day today, May 18, 2018. On weekends, the event features animal feedings, keeper talks and demonstrations; a conservation-themed aerialist show, puppet shows and other activities, fun and information focusing on the importance of protecting the environment and its creatures. In honor of international Year of the Bird, this year's Wild for the Planet spotlights native plants and other plant species that support local birds and highlights the Zoo's bird conservation achievements with five bird gardens throughout the grounds. Adults and youngsters can enjoy a day at the Zoo, home to a diverse collection of 1,100 animals representing 250 different species, many of which are rare or endangered, with special opportunities, entertainment, information and tips about everyday ways to sustain and preserve. All-Star Band led by Music Director Martin Guigui, and others to headline an extraordinary 'Concert For Conservation' at the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association BEASTLY BALL on Saturday, May 19, 2018, 5:30 pm, at the L.A. Zoo, a leader in the preservation of some of the world's most critically endangered species and their habitats. Showcasing the enormous impact the Zoo has on animal conservation both locally and internationally, this year's signature fundraiser takes place on the heels of national Endangered Species Day to underscore the Zoo's commitment to saving animals from extinction. The Ball honors animal expert/conservationist Jack Hanna and features a rare after-hours stroll through the Zoo with special animal experiences, including animal feedings, keeper chats and up close interactions; the debut of a conservation mural by artist/Beautify Earth Co-Founder Ruben Rojas; bountiful fare from some of L.A.'s most popular restaurants; a mobile-bidding silent auction and more. Guests are invited to dress in 'safari casual' attire. Honorary Chair Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, is joined by Honorary Committee members Slash, Lance Bass, Jackie Chan, Heather Mycoskie and Pauley Perrette. Beastly Ball Chair is GLAZA Trustee Tyler Kelley. FAMILY NEW YEAR'S EVE at L.A. Zoo Lights celebrates the coming of 2018 with an evening of fun on Sunday, December 31, 6 to 10 pm. The special all-ages party features 'skip-the-line' express entry to L.A. Zoo Lights, dinner buffet, dessert, a ride on the Conservation Carousel, a festive photo booth courtesy of PRIMs Photo Booth, a DJ dance party, soft drinks and a cash bar. At 9 pm, party-goers can enjoy a glass of complimentary bubbly -- champagne for adults, sparkling apple cider for kids along with a live broadcast of New York's Times Square ball drop, after which guests are welcome to experience L.A. Zoo Lights until closing. FAMILY NEW YEAR'S EVE tickets, which are limited and sell out quickly, are $69 for adults and $45 for children. Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association members save $5.

Exclusive HOLIDAY HAPPY HOURS for the 21-and-up crowd highlight two evenings during L.A. Zoo Lights, including Flapjacks and Flannel on Thursday, December 7 and Tamales and Tequila on Thursday, December 14. Both evenings feature 'skip-the-line' express entry to L.A. This Halloween season, BOO AT THE L.A. ZOO offers goblins and ghouls of all ages a chance to feed their imaginations with fang-tastic fun and spooktacular learning throughout the entire month of October, beginning Sunday, October 1, and continuing through Tuesday, October 31, 2017, 10 am to 4 pm. BOO AT THE L.A. Two favorite music eras go head-to-head for one very special L.A. Zoo Roaring Nights evening, a 1980-90s 'Battle of the Decades' for ages 18 and older featuring legendary Los Angeles DJ Richard Blade on Friday, September 15, 2017, 6 to 10 pm. The summer music party features rare after-hours access to animal habitats, including an expanded route through the Zoo open from 6 to 8 pm, pop-up zookeeper talks and close-up animal experiences. Guests are encouraged to dress for the 80s-90s theme as they enjoy live music from the Boombox Heroes, who deliver favorite up-tempo 90s hits, L.A.'s favorite food trucks, full-service bars, a Game Zone, and more. DJ Johnny Hawkes spins fun, eclectic sets with hits from both decades, while DJ Richard Blade focuses on the era during which he first shot to fame, the 1980s. Groovy! The Los Angeles Zoo kicks off the summer with a Roaring Nights '60s Summer Safari for all ages in honor of the Zoo's 50th Anniversary 'ZooLAbration' on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 6 to 10 pm. Guests can enjoy a rare after-hours evening at the Zoo, which is transformed into a rockin' beach bash featuring live bands Woodie and the Longboards and Detroit Nights, DJ Johnny Hawkes, special meet-and-greets with the Minions from Despicable Me 3, L.A.'s favorite food trucks, full-service bars, games, visits to L.A. Zoo animal habitats, including an expanded route open from 6 to 8 pm, pop-up 'Then and Now' zookeeper talks and special animal encounters. Adults take their turn at one of Southern California's most family-friendly destinations as the Los Angeles Zoo presents SEX AND THE CITY ZOO, a wild Valentine's Day celebration dedicated to romance in the animal kingdom on Saturday, February 11, 2017, 5 to 7 pm, in the Zoo's Witherbee Auditorium.  The lighthearted affair for ages 21 and older begins with a reception from 5 to 6 pm featuring tempting refreshments, wines and "animal walk-abouts,' which include chats with keepers and the chance to observe small animals up close.  At the heart of the evening is a provocative 'Fool for Love' presentation and Q & A from 6 to 7 pm about animal dating, mating and cohabitating by Sandy Masuo.

Zoo's 50th Anniversary is the extension of DINOSAURS: UNEXTINCT AT THE L.A.
