Go WILD FOR THE PLANET At L.A. Zoo From Earth Day To Endangered Species Day


The Los Angeles Zoo's annual WILD FOR THE PLANET celebration kicks off on Earth Day weekend, Saturday, April 21, 10 am to 4 pm, and runs through Endangered Species Day today, May 18, 2018. On weekends, the event features animal feedings, keeper talks and demonstrations; a conservation-themed aerialist show, puppet shows and other activities, fun and information focusing on the importance of protecting the environment and its creatures. In honor of international Year of the Bird, this year's Wild for the Planet spotlights native plants and other plant species that support local birds and highlights the Zoo's bird conservation achievements with five bird gardens throughout the grounds. Adults and youngsters can enjoy a day at the Zoo, home to a diverse collection of 1,100 animals representing 250 different species, many of which are rare or endangered, with special opportunities, entertainment, information and tips about everyday ways to sustain and preserve. Rock Royalty Nancy Wilson, Liv Warfield, Slash to Headline LA Zoo Beastly Ball Concert for Conservation


Rock super group Roadcase Royale's Nancy Wilson, one of the founding members of legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Heart, and Liv Warfield, former Prince's New Power Generation band member/R&B singer, join rock icon Slash, renowned pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph, the L.A. All-Star Band led by Music Director Martin Guigui, and others to headline an extraordinary 'Concert For Conservation' at the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association BEASTLY BALL on Saturday, May 19, 2018, 5:30 pm, at the L.A. Zoo, a leader in the preservation of some of the world's most critically endangered species and their habitats. Showcasing the enormous impact the Zoo has on animal conservation both locally and internationally, this year's signature fundraiser takes place on the heels of national Endangered Species Day to underscore the Zoo's commitment to saving animals from extinction. The Ball honors animal expert/conservationist Jack Hanna and features a rare after-hours stroll through the Zoo with special animal experiences, including animal feedings, keeper chats and up close interactions; the debut of a conservation mural by artist/Beautify Earth Co-Founder Ruben Rojas; bountiful fare from some of L.A.'s most popular restaurants; a mobile-bidding silent auction and more. Guests are invited to dress in 'safari casual' attire. Honorary Chair Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, is joined by Honorary Committee members Slash, Lance Bass, Jackie Chan, Heather Mycoskie and Pauley Perrette. Family New Year's Eve Celebration Announced At L.A. Zoo Lights


FAMILY NEW YEAR'S EVE at L.A. Zoo Lights celebrates the coming of 2018 with an evening of fun on Sunday, December 31, 6 to 10 pm. The special all-ages party features 'skip-the-line' express entry to L.A. Zoo Lights, dinner buffet, dessert, a ride on the Conservation Carousel, a festive photo booth courtesy of PRIMs Photo Booth, a DJ dance party, soft drinks and a cash bar. At 9 pm, party-goers can enjoy a glass of complimentary bubbly -- champagne for adults, sparkling apple cider for kids along with a live broadcast of New York's Times Square ball drop, after which guests are welcome to experience L.A. Zoo Lights until closing. FAMILY NEW YEAR'S EVE tickets, which are limited and sell out quickly, are $69 for adults and $45 for children. Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association members save $5.

Zoo Roaring Nights evening, a 1980-90s 'Battle of the Decades' for ages 18 and older featuring legendary Los Angeles DJ Richard Blade on Friday, September 15, 2017, 6 to 10 pm. The summer music party features rare after-hours access to animal habitats, including an expanded route through the Zoo open from 6 to 8 pm, pop-up zookeeper talks and close-up animal experiences.
